Full KYDEX® Product Line Earns GREENGUARD® Certification

Children and Schools GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified

KYDEX, LLC, the manufacturer of KYDEX® thermoplastic sheet, is proud to announce that its full product line is now GREENGUARD® Certified by the GREENGUARD® Children & Schools℠ Certification Program. GREENGUARD® Certified products contribute to good indoor air quality, helping to limit chemical exposure and improve health.

"We are extremely proud of our GREENGUARD® Certification. As a global leader in plastic sheet manufacturing, we are pleased to learn that we are contributing to good indoor air quality while producing the highest quality sheet," commented Jim Medalie, president of KYDEX.

To become GREENGUARD® Certified, KYDEX® sheet was tested to identify potentially harmful chemical emissions to confirm that levels are within allowable limits, selected from existing third-party standards and guidelines, by the GREENGUARD® Environmental Institute (GEI), an industry-independent, third-party organization. As part of this process, KYDEX® sheet was screened for more than 10,000 individual volatile organic compounds (VOCs), using risk levels or guidelines from proven health standards, to ensure the product emits the fewest possible chemicals into the indoor environment.

By using products bearing the GREENGUARD® Certification mark, architects, designers, and specifiers can be assured these products have been independently verified to meet some of the most rigorous chemical emission standards in the world. In addition, numerous global, federal, state, and local authorities recognize the value and specify GREENGUARD® Certified products in their green building codes and purchase specifications.

The GREENGUARD® Children & Schools℠ Certification Program focuses on building products and materials used in schools, daycare, and healthcare facilities. Recognizing that children are more sensitive to chemicals and that schools are different than commercial buildings, GEI developed this program using the most stringent product emission criteria in the market. By qualifying for this Certification, the full KYDEX® product line also meets all standards for the GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality Certification Program.

As a GREENGUARD® Certified product, KYDEX® sheet will undergo periodic verification processes to remain certified.

About GREENGUARD® Environmental Institute (GEI)
Founded in 2001, GEI is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD® Certification Program℠. The Institute's mission is to protect human health and quality of life through programs that improve indoor air that people breathe. As an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Authorized Standards Developer, GEI establishes acceptable indoor air standards for building materials, interior products, furnishings, electronic equipment, indoor environments and buildings. The more than 200,000 GREENGUARD® Certified products must meet stringent, third-party standards for low chemical emissions based on established health standards and undergo rigorous testing and verification processes on a regular basis. GREENGUARD® Certification is broadly recognized and accepted by a number of "green" building programs, including the United States Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program.
